A Flemish government institution is looking for a medior Linux system administrator for its IT department. You set up systems and keep them running.
Linux, and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server in particular, is your core expertise; knowledge of, experience with or an interest in network and storage management in an enterprise environment is a plus.
- Day-to-day management of the existing systems: following up on backups and monitoring, resolving incidents
- Designing and implementing major changes
- Setting up new systems
- Phasing out legacy systems
You will join the organisation's IT department. This department brings the organisation's entire IT infrastructure into production and keeps it in production, in terms of both software and hardware.
Within the IT department, you will work in a specific team. This team is responsible for managing all of the organisation's Linux systems, network equipment and storage equipment.
The organisation has its own data centres at two locations. Travelling to these data centres should not be a problem for you.

Proven experience (3 years) with Linux system administration in an enterprise environment (preferably SUSE Linux Enterprise Server)

Proven knowledge and experience, at system level, of at least one of the following specialist systems: Unix/Linux/Windows - Mainframe - Middleware - security - network and communication - systems, generic or specialist

Proven experience with following up support calls from customers and with suppliers, and with ITIL processes in general.
