Senior Full Stack Java Developer

As a Senior Full Stack Java Developer, you will strengthen the Agile team of a Flemish government organisation, using Java, Spring Boot and PostGIS to build applications for data on ground, soil and groundwater samples. In the longer term, API design will take on an important role.

The organisation is a partnership within the Flemish government. The partners are various Flemish government institutions. Together, they manage and provide access to data and information about the subsurface and the soil in Flanders.

You will strengthen the organisation's Agile development team.

  • You develop solutions that meet the requirements from the functional analysis.
  • You carry out the technical analysis of the solution to be built.
  • You safeguard the quality of the delivered solutions, together with colleagues and end users.
  • You actively maintain the existing applications that are in use.
  • You take part in or provide input for the monthly sprint review, in which the results are evaluated and the new planning is agreed upon according to the priorities set by the organisation.
  • You take part in or provide input for the fortnightly sprint planning.
  • You take part in or provide input for the daily stand-up with the entire development team.

In the short term, you will work on applications for submitting and managing data on ground, soil and groundwater samples and observations. In doing so, you will work with standards for observations and measurements and for sensors and sampling. You will build new applications and maintain the existing ones.

In the longer term, the organisation wants to further establish its API-first strategy, which means API design will also take on an important role.

The team works Agile and follows test driven development, using Java, Spring Framework/Spring Boot, GWT, HTML, CSS and JavaScript, PostgreSQL with the PostGIS extension, JUnit/AssertJ, Maven, Git, JIRA and Confluence.
