Software Architect Java

As a Software Architect Java, you will dive into the Java applications of a Flemish government institution: you design the architecture, draw up HLDs/LLDs and guide future developments together with implementation partners, the enterprise architect and cloud engineers.

As a Software Architect Java, you will familiarise yourself with the various Java-based applications of a Flemish government institution in order to optimise them. Together with the implementation partners, you will guide future developments.

  • Designing software architecture for Java applications
  • Drawing up high-level and low-level designs (HLD/LLD)
  • Safeguarding architecture principles and security guidelines, in line with the guidelines of the Flemish government
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external partners
  • Supporting the implementation of CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code

You work closely with the enterprise architect, cloud engineers and suppliers to stay within budget and help professionalise the processes.

What we are looking for

Specific skills

  • Proven experience as a specialist architect in a specific domain (networking, security, server infrastructure, application architecture, ERP, ECM platforms, Data Warehouse and BI, ...) or as an Enterprise Architect 5 yr Senior Must have
  • Proven experience with DevOps and IaC (Terraform and Ansible). Must have
  • Proven knowledge of and experience with modelling techniques (Archimate, Togaf, UML, Sparx EA) Must have
  • Proven knowledge of Archimate and UML in order to communicate matters clearly Must have
  • Proven knowledge of Spring Boot and container technology. Must have
  • Experience as a Java Software Architect. 5 yr Senior Must have
  • You have a hands-on mentality: you can help the development teams work out the necessary samples when needed. And you can guide them in translating theory into practice. Must have
  • You can make clear where responsibilities lie and you can also follow them up. Must have
  • Proven experience with Azure services (Compute, Storage, Networking, Security). Should have
  • Proven experience with the guidelines within the Flemish government landscape (IK1-4) Should have
  • Proven knowledge of and experience with business processes in general Should have
  • Proven knowledge of and experience with the various facets of project management (costs, timing, coordination, planning, estimates) Should have
  • Proven knowledge of all domains, plus proven specialist architect in at least 1 specialist domain (infrastructure, application, security, data, process…) Should have

General skills

  • The candidate holds a Bachelor's/Master's degree Must have
  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder management. Must have
  • Language requirement: Dutch at European CEFR level C2. Must have
